Find out why your federal application isn't getting referred.

Most applications are rated ineligible or never referred for reasons HR will not tell you: a page over the limit, hours per week missing, year-only dates, a requirement answered in the wrong words. Twelve requirements from OPM and USAJOBS, checked on your device in under a minute.

(optional). Paste the whole USAJOBS page: it tells us who may apply, when it closes, which documents it needs, and whether the two-page limit applies to this position.

Your resume is checked on your device. We never receive the file, and the check needs no account. Signing in later gives you one free rewrite.

How it works

One document, eight steps, nothing hidden.

  1. 01

    Drop

A PDF or Word file, or pasted text. Read on your device the moment it arrives; we never receive the file.

  2. 02

    Read

The document appears, set like a page, with its real page count from the file itself.

  3. 03

    Checking

The light reads down the page. Each finding appears the moment its check finishes. No account needed.

  4. 04

    Report

A count of requirements met, every finding pinned to its line, every rule with its source.

  5. 05

    Questions

The facts we couldn't find, asked one by one with the reason. Blanks stay marked as needed; we never guess.

  6. 06

Only now, before the rewrite. Google, or an email link. We receive your name and email address, and nothing else.

  7. 07

    Rewrite

Two pages, in the announcement's own terms, from your resume and your answers. Every change listed.

  8. 08

    Again

Every announcement is different. Your matches page finds the next one and emails you when new ones open. Rewrite for it, or for the whole season.

Plans

The check is free. The first rewrite is free.

After that, pay for the announcement in front of you, or for the season. The plans page shows what each one includes, what a specialist charges for the same work, and the numbers behind the check.

Questions

Before you drop a file.

Short answers. The long ones are on the How it works page.

Does my resume leave my computer?
Not for the check. The file is read and checked in your browser. Only the rewrite sends the resume text, the announcement and your answers to our server and our AI provider, and they aren't stored.
Where do the rules come from?
OPM's Agency Guidance on the Two-Page Limit on Resume Length (September 2025) and the USAJOBS Help Center. Every row in the report names its source. Announcement-specific checks quote the announcement itself.
Will the rewrite invent anything?
No. A federal application is a certified document. Any required fact the resume lacks is asked for, or left marked as needed. The rewrite never adds hours, dates, employers, degrees or numbers on its own.
What does the free rewrite include?
One full rewrite for one announcement after you sign in, with the questions and the before-and-after comparison. The check itself is free every time, for as many resumes as you like.
Can Referred find announcements for me?
Yes. Save a match profile — series, grades, places and the hiring paths you can use — and the Matches page lists open USAJOBS announcements ranked by how much of their language your resume already uses, with a daily email when new ones open. Referred never applies for you; when one fits, you apply on USAJOBS.
Is Referred connected to OPM or USAJOBS?
No. Referred is an independent product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the U.S. Office of Personnel Management, USAJOBS, or any federal agency.
